Travel To Ladakh

The most beautiful tourist spot of India also known as 'Little Tibet' or 'The Coldest Desert in the World' located in the Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir. The word ladakh means "land of high passes". The place is sandwiched between the Karakoram mountain range and north-south portion of Himalayas.  The place is also very famous for ladakh festival, which is celebrated in an extra vaganza of dances, sports, music etc.

Attractions Of Ladakh : 

 

Leh Palace : This palace was built in1553 AD on a hilltop. It was one of tallest buildings in the World. This palace is a museum also which holds a variety of collection, like jewellery, ceremonial dresses, ornaments, paintings etc. 

Namgyal Tsempo Monastery :  This monastery was founded in the year 1430. The main attraction of this place is 3 stories high golden statue Maitreya Buddha. 

Pangong Tso : This lake is 150 km away from the main town of Leh. This lake is one of the best attractions of Leh for the tourists. The beauty of the lake attracts everyone. 

Shanti Stupa : It is a white domed statue of Buddha. It was built by a Buddhist monk Gyomyo Nakamura. It's height 4,267 mt and located 5 km away from the main town of leh. 

Khardung La : It is a pass located 40 km from main town. The pass is used to carry military supplies one side to another. But foreign tourists need to obtain a special permit to enter the place from local govt. 

Best Time To Visit : 



The best time to visit the place between June to September. Because these months are best for trekking. Otherwise the trekking routes are closed due to heavy snowfall.

How To Reach : 

 

By Air : Nearest airport is Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, which is well connected with other main cities of India. The airlines are available here are Air India, Go Air, Jet Airways etc. These airlines are connected with Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Kanpur etc. After reach the airport you can hire a local vehicle to reach your destination place. 

By Rail :  As we all know that ladakh is a snowfall area so it does not have any railway station nearby. Nearest railway station is Jammu Tawi which is 700km away from ladakh. But this railway station is well connected with Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi. From the station you can hire a cab to reach the place. 

By Road : You can reach ladakh by a jeep or bike. Because ladakh is 434 km away from Srinagar and 494 km away from Manali. But due to some disaster problem you can only travel to ladakh by road between May to September.
