Mirik is a popular tourist spot and idyllic hill station, located in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Located at an altitude of 1767 mt, Mirik  is 49 km away from Darjeeling and 55 km away from Siliguri. The word 'Mirik' comes from the Lepcha word Mir-Yok, that means "place burnt by fire". One of the best and new hill station of India, Mirik is blessed with pleasant climate, Beautiful tea garden, easy accessibility, tourist cottages and the facility of boating. Mirik is also famous for the largest supplier of oranges in West Bengal and Mirik Busty Orange Garden. Due to its pleasant climate and all tourist facility, Mirik is a popular tourist spot.

Mirik is a popular tourist destination where people can stay some days to enjoy their holidays. So, if you want relaxation then you must go there March-early June and Sept-December. 

Attractions Of Mirik :


The Sumendu Lake : The 1.25 km long sumendu lake is a major tourist spot in Mirik. It is a beautiful man made lake which surrounded by beautiful garden, pine forest, cardamom and orange trees. Their is also a long road for leisure walk, people can visit the stunning Kanchenjunga from here. 

Kawlay Dara : It is the fabulous view f plains. People can see a beautiful sunrise or sunset from here. 

Tea Garden : Mirik has eight tea gardens. The fabulous view of green tea garden can makes you delightful. 

Debi Sthan : The hindu temple located on the western bank of the lake. It is also surrounded by green tea gardens. From here people can also visit the view of mountain and plains of Mirik. 

Other famous places are Deosi Dara, Rai Dhap, Mirik Lake etc.

How To Reach :


By Air : Mirik is a hill station, so it does not give you the option of direct flights. But the nearest airport is Bagdogra airport, located 55 km away from the city.  This airport is well connected with other cities of India. 

By Train : The nearest railway station is Jalpaiguri, located 50 km away from the city. But as a hill station Mirik does not have any good railway service. 

By Road : Mirik has a good road network with many cities of India.  The maximum options to go Mirik by road. There are several bus services from other states to this place. Before going there check your near rest bus services.
